Since the federal disaster declaration for Hurricane Michael, Gadsden County residents have received nearly $13 million in total federal funds:
- 1,939 individuals and households have been approved for more than $3.4 million in federal grants through FEMA’s Individuals and Households Program.
- One flood insurance claim has been filed and an estimated $71,568 has been paid. (As of Feb. 12)
- More than $9.5 million in U.S. Small Business Administration low-interest disaster loans have been approved for 328 homeowners and renters and 23 businesses.
- More than $1.7 million has been approved for basic housing repairs for 700 homeowners.
- 4,114 home inspections have been issued and more than 99.8 percent completed.
- 1,090 survivors have not provided FEMA with the necessary information from their insurance settlements to complete their disaster assistance registration.
- Through Disaster Survivor Assistance outreach more than 10,500 survivors were connected with disaster resources and recovery partners for needs beyond what FEMA can provide.
- 619 homeowners and renters have been approved for rental assistance.
- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has installed 253 blue roofs in Gadsden County representing 253 families who are able to live in their homes while they make permanent repairs.
- 14 households have been licensed-in in Gadsden County under FEMA’s Direct Temporary Housing Assistance program. Working with Florida Division of Emergency Management, Gadsden County and Volunteer Florida, debris is being cleared from private and commercial sites.
- More than 1.8 million cubic yards of debris has been removed in Gadsden County.
- The disaster recovery center at Old Gretna Elementary School opened Oct. 24 and closed Feb. 15 after assisting 3,614 visitors.
