ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS DEBRIS REMOVAL FOR TYPHOON MAWAR [https://www.fema.gov/fact-sheet/army-corps-engineers-debris-removal] Release Date: Jul 26, 2023 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is working with FEMA and the office of Governor Guerrero to assist in the collection of eligible Typhoon Mawar debris brought to the rights-of-way (ROWs) of primary, secondary, and tertiary roads. This program is limited to residential properties. DEBRIS PLACEMENT IN RIGHTS-OF-WAY (ROWS) * ROWs are curbside within 10-feet of the edge of the road.  * All debris must be sorted by type (vegetative debris, large appliances, construction and demolition debris, metal) and brought within the ROW. * Debris should not block roadway, fire hydrants, powerlines, utilities, or transformer boxes. * Direct access to segregated debris in ROW should not be blocked by parked cars, abandoned cars, or by other means. TYPES OF ELIGIBLE DEBRIS TO BE COLLECTED * Vegetative Debris * Large Appliances * Household Furnishings (Mattresses, Couches) * Construction and Demolition Debris * Metal (Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, Cans, Tin) TYPES OF INELIGIBLE DEBRIS TO BE COLLECTED AND WILL NOT BE PICKED UP * Tires * Vehicles and Boats * Electronics * Daily Household Garbage – Picked up on regular trash collection days. * Porcelain (Toilet Bowls, Sinks) * Household Hazardous Waste – Citizens can take these items to the Harmon transfer station, at no cost. There is no need to contact USACE, your mayor or any other organization for this service. Just sort your debris into piles by type and set it in the ROW beside the edge of the road. Debris teams will conduct pickup community-by-community throughout the island and communicate where they will be through traditional media (radio, television news) and social media (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter).  BE READY WHEN DEBRIS TEAMS ARRIVE It’s important that items are sorted in advance of USACE teams arriving for pick up. Trucks will only make one pass down your street to pick up eligible disaster debris, so Guam residents need to be ready, have debris properly sorted and carefully placed curbside by the time they arrive. _PLEASE DO NOT ILLEGALLY DUMP YOUR DEBRIS._ This is a free service coordinated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
