TRUMP APPROVES MAJOR DISASTER DECLARATION FOR IOWA [https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20200817/presidente-donald-j-trump-aprueba-una-declaracion-por-desastre-mayor-para] Release Date: August 17, 2020 WASHINGTON – FEMA announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Iowa to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas affected by severe storms on Aug. 10, 2020. Federal funding is available to the state, eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work and the repair or replacement of facilities damaged by the severe storm in Benton, Boone, Cedar, Clinton, Dallas, Jasper, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Marshall, Muscatine, Polk, Poweshiek, Scott, Story and Tama counties. Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures throughout the state. DuWayne Tewes has been named as the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area. Designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments.
