FRANKFORT, KY. – Applying for disaster assistance will not affect
other federal benefits you may receive. If you sustained loss from the
severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, landslides and
mudslides that occurred on April 2, and you live in Boyd, Carter,
Fayette, Greenup, Henry, Jefferson, Jessamine, Mason, Oldham, Union
and Whitley counties, don’t hesitate to apply for FEMA assistance. 

Accepting FEMA funds will not affect eligibility for Social Security,
Medicare, Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
benefits, or other federal benefit programs. Also, FEMA assistance is
not taxable.

Disaster funds help survivors pay for temporary housing, essential
home repairs, essential personal property replacement, and other
serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance or other
sources.

HOW TO APPLY FOR FEMA ASSISTANCE 

There are several ways to apply:

	* Visit a Disaster Recover Center. To find a center close to you, go

text DRC along with your Zip Code to 43362 (Ex: DRC 40019) 
	* Call the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. Help is available in most
languages. The Helpline is available daily from 7 A.M. TO 11 P.M. ET.
	* Go online to DisasterAssistance.gov
