COLUMBIA, S.C. – Residents repairing and rebuilding following
Hurricane Ian can visit The Home Depot in Myrtle Beach to get tips and
advice on making homes stronger and safer against storms and other
hazards.

FEMA mitigation specialists will be available 8 A.M. TO 6 P.M.
TUESDAY, JAN. 10 TO SATURDAY, JAN. 14, to answer questions and share
home-improvement tips and other proven building methods to prevent or
lessen damage from future disasters. They will also share techniques
for rebuilding hazard-resistant homes. This free information is geared
toward do-it-yourselfers and general contractors.

Mitigation is an effort to reduce the loss of life and property damage
by lessening the impact of a disaster.  Research shows every dollar
spent on mitigation saves $6 on future disaster losses.
