FEMA COVID-19 VACCINATION UPDATE [https://www.fema.gov/press-release/20210325/fema-covid-19-vaccination-update] WASHINGTON -- Two community vacation centers capable of administering up to 6,000 vaccine doses per day opened Wednesday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and Detroit's [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGDBRg42kWU] Ford Field.  Acting FEMA Administrator Bob Fenton visited the Atlanta center earlier this week. “Our primary focus with this location here [at Mercedes-Benz Stadium] is vaccine equity and to ensure that in the next weeks, any local resident who wants a vaccination is able to receive one,” Fenton said. “Vaccination centers like this one are how we will accomplish this goal.” Community vaccination centers are led by states, but may be supported by the federal government, including FEMA. Each state determines its own vaccination priority groups and procedures. FEMA is committed to the equitable distribution of vaccines. Using data from CDC’s social vulnerability index and population data from the census, the agency continues working with  state partners to locate community vaccination centers where they will be able to do the most good for the most vulnerable populations and ensure everyone who wants a vaccine gets one. FEMA has now provided more than $4.42 BILLION or expenses related to COVID-19 vaccination at 100% federal cost share. These funds cover critical supplies, staffing, training and transportation needs [https://www.fema.gov/blog/fema-expands-efforts-distribute-vaccinations] that support increased vaccination efforts. Wednesday, FEMA published the interim policy guidance [https://www.fema.gov/sites/default/files/documents/fema_policy_covid-19_funeral_assistance-updated.pdf] on the COVID-19 funeral assistance program [https://www.fema.gov/disasters/coronavirus/economic/funeral-assistance]. The program will reimburse individuals for funeral expenses for deaths attributed to COVID-19 that occurred after Jan. 20, 2020.
