MADISON, MISS. – FEMA is meeting survivors where they are to help
start their recovery following the 
April 8-11, 2024, severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes and
flooding. 

FEMA Disaster Survivor Assistance teams will be going door-to-door in
neighborhoods throughout Hancock, Hinds, Humphreys, Madison, Neshoba
and Scott counties to help residents who want to apply for FEMA
assistance.

FEMA personnel can help survivors complete their disaster assistance
application, update an existing application, answer questions about
federal assistance and provide referrals to additional community
resources.

These teams will never ask for or accept money and will be wearing a
FEMA identification badge with a photograph. A FEMA shirt, vest or
jacket is not proof of identity. While helping someone apply, they
will ask for personal information. This includes the applicant’s
social security number, annual income, and bank information. Survivors
are encouraged to ask for identification before providing any personal
information. 

It is not necessary to wait for a visit from FEMA to apply for
assistance. Survivors can apply for FEMA assistance by going online
to DisasterAssistance.gov

calling the FEMA Helpline at 800-621-3362. If you use video relay
