Tribal Consultation on the Hermit's Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Regulations
FEMA will host a virtual government-to-government consultation with the Tribal Nations that have been impacted by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire and whose tribal entities, tribal corporations, or tribal members have been impacted by the fire(s).

On September 30, 2022, President Biden signed P.L. 117-180, Division G-Hermit’s Peak Fire Assistance Act, Sec. 104 (f)(1) Regulations, FEMA is required within 45 days to distribute and publish regulations for processing and payments of claims under the Act.
FEMA will host a virtual government-to-government consultation with the Tribal Nations that have been impacted by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire and whose tribal entities, tribal corporations, or tribal members have been impacted by the fire.
FEMA understand the importance of hearing from Tribal Nations on national and regional issues, as well as tribal-specific concerns. This tribal consultation will provide an opportunity for FEMA to walk Tribal Nations through the regulations for regarding P.L. 117-180 and provide Tribal Nations with an opportunity to submit comments to the Agency.
The tribal consultation record will remain open for 30 days after the virtual session for Tribal Nations to submit written comments to FEMA. Tribal Nations can submit their written comments on the regulations though the Federal Register online portal by January 13, 2023. The regulations can be identified by Docket ID number FEMA-2022-0037 under the Federal Register. Please note that your written comments will be published online through the public docket.
