Publication One (Pub 1) is our capstone doctrine. It helps us as Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) employees understand our role in the emergency management community and provides direction for how we conduct ourselves and make decisions each day. Your Hazard Mitigation Plan is a living document. Conducting an annual review will help your community ensure that the plan remains up to date, while also providing an opportunity to evaluate progress. This resource highlights why these reviews are both essential and beneficial and includes examples of best practices taken from Region 3 communities.
In a Presidentially declared disaster area, FEMA may provide money for eligible survivors to repair or replace personal property lost or damaged in a disaster, including tools or equipment needed for school or work. This assistance is also available to those who are self-employed.
